Another book reading in Oregon has been scheduled featuring The Seven Commandments of the Sacred Buffalo Calf Woman: The Biography of Martin High Bear (1919-1995) Lakota Medicine Man and Spiritual Leader.
The event at the Bookmine, 702 E Main St, Cottage Grove, Oregon will be held at 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025 and will include a Q and A session and book signing.
The High Bear biography shares the history of Martin’s family dating back to the 1830’s plus prophesy that his peoples’ rich traditional spiritual qualities and cultural values are continuing to be restored in Lakota communities today. According to Lakota tradition, the Sacred Buffalo Calf Woman first appeared centuries ago in Today’s South Dakota to gift a sacred pipe bundle to the Sanz Arc band of Lakota. She shared cultural and spiritual teachings meant to restore their rich traditions and heritage. She prophesied that she would return one day as a white buffalo calf which would restore hope among the people during difficult times.
Since 1994, white buffalo have been born in the Northern Great Plains symbolizing the spiritual transformation that continues to occur today in Indian Country. These teachings, when shared with all colors of people, will restore ancient indigenous cultural values of respect and honor and strengthen racial harmony throughout the world.
