What’s happening on the Elderberry Wisdom Farm

With our weather/ice-storm and the various illnesses that we experienced throughout this winter, it’s been quite a busy end of the year 2022! Our cohort has been busy learning about Traditional Ecological Knowledge and our Native Agricultural Biodiversity Accelerator. They will be graduating their internship here at the Elderberry Wisdom Farm on January 20, 2023.

We are also happily awaiting the arrival of 275 Blue Elderberry (Sambucus nigra ssp. Cerulea) plant starts in mid-January. Our Fall/Winter Cohort will be mixing organic potting soil and organic compost to plant the Elderberry plant starts into 2-gallon container pots, and tending them for the next year at our Salem farm. They will be planted in the rainy season next year at our Organic Training Farm in Aurora. This is an exciting time for us here at the farm as we teach our team how to care for this native plant species and help to form the Blue Elderberry Farm LLC business operation.
